Day 2 – Madhu River Boat Ride/Turtle Hatchery Farm/Water Sports

On the second day, you will be exploring Bentota. The area near the vast rice fields and the historic Hindu temple known as the “Katukoliha Temple” is an excellent location for cycling. While you ride, you will pass through the turquoise waters of Dedduwa Lake and admire the beautiful murals on the walls of the Mullegoda Temple. This is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Bentota. You may also wish to visit Bentota Beach, which boasts numerous peaceful and picturesque shores. Bentota Beach, in particular, offers a warm welcome with its swaying coconut trees and lovely surroundings, making it the perfect spot for nature enthusiasts to enjoy relaxing water sports, such as:

Water Skiing

Experience the excitement of water skiing in Bentota and feel the rush of water beneath your feet and the wind in your hair. This beach is ideal for a safe water skiing adventure. The stunning water expanses become addictive for adrenaline seekers due to the absence of significant rocks and challenging terrain. Banana Boat & Tube Rides

As their names suggest, banana boats and tube rides consist of tubes attached to a speedboat, shaped like bananas. The ride promises excitement, complete with large waves crashing over you. Visitors to Bentota can choose between single-ring rides or couch rides, both suitable for guests of all ages.

If you wish to try windsurfing in crystal-clear waters, Bentota is the place to be. The conditions are ideal all year round. Visitors can rent equipment or bring their own, and personalized lessons and coaching are available for those wanting to learn or attempt windsurfing.

There are many more water activities available for your enjoyment! Our next stop will be Galle, where we will explore the renowned Galle Fort located at Galle Cove. Built by the Portuguese in 1588 and later renovated by the Dutch beginning in 1649, this fort still radiates charm and is recognized as a significant piece of architectural history, despite being over 432 years old. Our next visit will be to the Sea Turtle Hatchery Farm in Galle, dedicated to improving the survival rates of baby turtles. A guide will escort you through the facility from the entrance.

In the evening, you may enjoy a boat tour on the scenic Madu River near Balapitiya town. The nearby creek creates several islands, and the area’s ecosystem contributes to a beautiful wetland. After a fulfilling day, you will be taken back to the hotel for the night.

Day 3 – Colombo to Airport Drop-Off

On your third and final day, you will have the opportunity to explore Colombo before your flight out of Sri Lanka. After breakfast, we will first visit the Gangaramaya Temple. This temple, one of Colombo’s most important, blends traditional and modern architectural styles and is located on Beira Lake, having been completed in the late 19th century. Beira Lake, situated in the heart of Colombo, originally covered slightly more than 1.65 km² (0.64 sq mi) but has since shrunk to just 0.65 km² (0.25 sq mi) due to various factors. Throughout the Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial periods, the lake served multiple purposes and retains its original Portuguese name. It is connected to a network of intricate canals that facilitate the movement of goods around the city and suburbs.

Next, we will head to Galle Face, a 500 m (1,600 ft) long urban park in the heart of Colombo, covering 5 hectares (12 acres). Although the original Galle Face Green encompassed a much larger area, Governor Sir Henry George Ward created the promenade in 1859. The Independence Memorial Hall, also known as the Independence Commemoration Hall, is a national monument in Sri Lanka that honors February 4, 1948, when a Ceylonese-elected legislature regained complete authority over the nation. It is located near Independence Square, often referred to as Torrington Square, in Colombo’s Cinnamon Gardens. The Old Colombo Dutch Hospital, believed to be the oldest structure in the Colombo Fort area, was built during the Dutch colonial era. Today, it serves as a historical site that has been transformed into a retail and dining destination where you can enjoy food and shop for souvenirs.
