Day 1 – Arrival and Check-In at Hotel in Kandy

Today marks the beginning of your six-day adventure with a five-night stay. You will arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, where a representative from Ceylon Waves will warmly welcome you. From there, you’ll proceed to Kandy, making a stop along the way at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Pinnawala, Sri Lanka, is a unique site for observing elephants in their natural surroundings. Established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation, this facility provides refuge for baby elephants abandoned or lost in the wild.

These adorable animals are nurtured and raised in captivity. Located in Pinnawala village, 13 kilometers northeast of Kegalle town, this orphanage boasts the world's largest herd of captive elephants. The ideal time to visit is between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., during the elephants' daily bath and milk feeding sessions. Visitors have the rare opportunity to witness these gentle giants splashing and playing in the nearby river, making for an unforgettable experience.


Day 2 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

On the second day, you’ll head to Nuwara Eliya, a beautiful city nestled in the Central Province’s highlands. Approximately 76 kilometers away from Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, known as the “City of Lights,” is a captivating destination surrounded by lush greenery and magnificent waterfalls. Before setting off, you’ll visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of Sri Lanka’s most revered landmarks. This sacred site houses the left canine tooth of Lord Buddha and is a place of worship for Buddhists worldwide. It was recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1988. Next to the temple is Kandy Lake, also known locally as Kiri Muhuda (“Sea of Milk”). This man-made lake, constructed in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, is a serene spot in the heart of the city.tour.

From there, the journey continues to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, home to over 4,000 plant species spread across 147 acres. Situated just 5.5 kilometers from Kandy, this picturesque garden is bordered by the Mahaweli River. Following this, we’ll make our way to Nuwara Eliya, stopping at the stunning Ramboda Falls en route. The 358-foot-tall Ramboda Falls, the 11th tallest in Sri Lanka, cascades down a rocky cliff surrounded by a lush green forest. Next, you’ll visit the Damro Labookellie Tea Center and Tea Garden, previously known as Mackwoods, which offers guided tours through the region’s vast tea estates. After sampling some of Sri Lanka’s finest teas, you’ll be escorted to your accommodation in Nuwara Eliya for the night.



Day 3 – Nuwara Eliya to Yala via Ella

On the third day, you’ll traTissamaharama, passing through scenic mountains, waterfalls, and rich greenery. The first stop will be Gregory Lake, where you can enjoy a pony ride and a delicious meal. Afterward, we’ll visit Nuwara Eliya’s historic post office, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most architecturally unique buildings. Continuing to Ella, a quaint little village, we’ll visit several key attractions, starting with Little Adam’s Peak. Named for its resemblance to the sacred Adam’s Peak, Little Adam’s Peak offers breathtaking views and a leisurely hike through tea plantations.

Our next destination is the Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the “Bridge in the Sky.” This architectural marvel, constructed in 1921 during the British colonial era, stands between two hills and is one of the finest examples of colonial-era railway construction in Sri Lanka. You’ll have the opportunity to take in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside as you cross the bridge.

We’ll then visit Ravana Falls, also known as Ravana Ella, named after the legendary King Ravana from the epic Ramayana. According to legend, King Ravana hid Princess Sita in a cave behind these falls. After taking in the beauty of this impressive waterfall, you’ll proceed directly to Yala National Park, the second-largest park in Sri Lanka and home to a diverse array of wildlife. Following an exciting safari, you’ll be driven to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.



Day 4 – Yala to Bentota

On the fourth day, we’ll set off for Bentota, stopping in Galle along the way to explore the famous Galle Fort. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1588, the fort was extensively fortified by the Dutch in 1649. Despite its age, it remains one of Sri Lanka’s most well-preserved landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After touring the fort, we’ll continue our journey straight to Bentota, where you’ll check into your hotel for the night.


Day 5 – Bentota City Tour

Day five is reserved for exploring the charming town of Bentota. A cycle tour around the serene paddy fields and the ancient Katukoliha Hindu Temple is an ideal way to experience the local culture. You’ll also pass by the Mullegoda Temple, adorned with intricate mural paintings, and the tranquil waters of Dedduwa Lake. For nature lovers, Bentota Beach is a must-visit, with its swaying coconut trees and pristine shores. It’s the perfect place to indulge in water activities like swimming, snorkeling, and diving

In the evening, a boat ride along the picturesque Madu River in the town of Balapitiya awaits. The river, interspersed with small islands and surrounded by lush wetlands, is home to an incredible array of flora and fauna. After a day of adventure, you’ll be taken back to your hotel for a restful night.


Day 6 – Colombo City Tour & Departure

On the final day of your journey, you’ll head to Colombo for a brief city tour before your departure. We’ll start with a visit to the Gangaramaya Temple, one of Colombo’s most significant religious sites, blending traditional and modern architecture. Next, you’ll stop at Beira Lake, a historic lake in the heart of the city, known for its tranquil beauty and colonial-era significance. From there, we’ll visit the Galle Face Green, a sprawling urban park along the seafront, originally laid out by Governor Sir Henry George Ward in 1859. After a stroll along the promenade, we’ll head to the Dutch Hospital, the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area, which has been transformed into a vibrant shopping and dining complex. Here, you can enjoy some last-minute souvenir shopping and a delicious meal

This marks the end of your unforgettable trip with Ceylon Waves. Your guide will either drop you off at the airport or at your desired location in Colombo, concluding your memorable journey through Sri Lanka.
