Tour Plan

Day 1 – Arrival and Hotel Check-in in Negombo

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, a representative from Lanka Safe Tours will meet and greet you. Afterward, you will be transported to your first destination, the Negombo Beach Hotel, where you will spend the night.

Day 2 – Negombo to Anuradhapura and Mihintale

On the second day, your journey will take you to Anuradhapura, starting with a visit to Mihintale.Mihintale is known for its multi-religious history, royal significance, and its role in the establishment of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Following Mihintale, you will explore the Atamasthana, the eight sacred sites visited by the Buddha, which include:

  • Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya: A revered site housing a sapling from the sacred Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.
  • Ruwanwelisaya: A significant stupa built by King Dutugamunu, holding the largest collection of Buddha relics.
  • Thuparamaya: The first stupa built in Sri Lanka, constructed during King Devanampiyatissa’s reign.
  • Lovamahapaya (Brazen Palace): A former monastery with a history dating back over 2000 years.
  • Abhayagiri Dagaba: A prominent archaeological site and ancient monastic center.
  • Jetavanaramaya: A large stupa associated with King Mahasena.
  • Mirisaveti Stupa: Built by King Dutugamunu after defeating King Elara
  • Lankarama: A stupa constructed by King Valagamba, known for its architectural significance.
    • After your tour of these historical sites, you will return to your hotel in Anuradhapura.

      Day 3 – Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa, Minneriya, and Back to Sigiriya

      On the third day, your tour will lead you to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the second capitalof Sri Lanka. You'll explore the ruins, including King Parakramabahu I’s royal residence and ShivaDevale No. 2.

      Next, you will visit Minneriya National Park, a wildlife reserve famous for its gathering of wilelephants. After your wildlife experience, you will be taken to Sigiriya for the night.

      Day 4 – Sigiriya to Kandy through Matale

      On day four, you will climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also known as "Lion Rock," which served as aroyal citadel. After exploring Sigiriya, you will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO WorldHeritage Site known for its stunning murals and sculptures.

      The journey continues with a visit to a Spice Garden and the Matale Muthumariamman Temple beforeheading to Kandy for the night.

      Day 5 – Kandy City Tour

      Your fifth day will involve a guided tour of Kandy, including visits to:

      • Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa): A significant site for Buddhists worldwide.
      • Bahirawakanda Temple: Famous for its large Buddha statue.
      • Kandy viewpoint: Offering panoramic views of the city.
      • National Gems and Gemmological Museum: Showcasing Sri Lanka's precious stones
      • Kandy Cultural Dance Show: A vibrant performance of Sri Lankan cultural heritage.

      You will be dropped off at your hotel in the late afternoon.

      Day 6 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

      On day six, you will travel to Nuwara Eliya, known as the "city of lights." The journey includes astop at Ramboda Falls, the eleventh tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka.

      You will then visit the Damro Labookellie Tea Center and Tea Garden, one of the oldest tea estatesin Sri Lanka, where you will learn about tea production and enjoy a tasting session.

      Finally, you will check into your accommodation in Nuwara Eliya for the night.

      Day 7 – Nuwara Eliya to Ella

      On Day 7, you will travel from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, a charming town nestled in the hills. Thejourney will take you through beautiful landscapes, including tea plantations and stunningviewpoints.

      • Visit the Nine Arches Bridge:Stop to see this iconic railway bridge, known for its stunning architecture and scenic surroundings.
      • Hike to Ella Rock: For the adventurous, a hike to Ella Rock offers breathtaking views of the valley below
      • Visit Little Adam’s Peak: A relatively easy hike, Little Adam’s Peak provides spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and tea plantations.
      • Stay overnight in Ella.

      Day 8 – Ella to Yala National Park

      On Day 8, you will head to Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka's most famous wildlife reserves.

      • Safari in Yala National Park: Embark on an exciting safari where you can spot various wildlife, including leopards, elephants, and numerous bird species.

      Day 9 – Yala to Galle

      Day 11 – Bentota to Colombo

      On Day 11, you will head to Colombo, the vibrant capital of Sri Lanka.

      • Shopping at Pettah Market: Experience the local culture by exploring the bustling market.

      Day 12 – Colombo to Negombo

      On Day 12, you will return to Negombo for a relaxing day

      • Explore the local markets: Experience the local culture by exploring the bustling market.
      • Relax at the beach: Discover Colombo’s nightlife with dining options and bars.

      Day 13 – Departure

      Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport

      • Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport: Depending on your flight schedule, your Lanka Safe Tours representative will escort you to the airport for your departure.
